Commercial terms
Clear scope, staged commitment and defined responsibility.
These general principles support commercial transparency. The accepted quotation or project agreement controls the actual engagement.
Business identity
Urquhart Digital Services is operated by A. Urquhart, a United Kingdom sole trader, serving United Kingdom and international clients.
Suitability and paid advice
A free 15-minute suitability call establishes whether a requirement fits UDS. It is not a free diagnostic, design, procurement or architecture session. Technical advice begins with a paid service unless explicitly stated otherwise.
Scope and changes
Quotes define included deliverables, assumptions and responsibilities. Fixed prices apply only to the agreed scope. Additional features, changed requirements and unknown conditions are separately assessed and quoted.
Payment
Work below £500 is normally paid in advance. Projects from £500 to £5,000 normally use a 50% deposit and 50% before final handover. Larger projects normally use staged mobilisation, working and handover payments. The project quotation confirms the applicable structure.
Hardware and third-party costs
Hardware, travel, licences, subscriptions and third-party services are paid before UDS makes a financial commitment. The client normally purchases recommended computer components directly where practical.
Intellectual property
Bespoke-deliverable ownership or licensing is defined in the project agreement and takes effect after full payment. UDS retains reusable libraries, tools, frameworks, templates, methods and general know-how. Open-source components retain their original licences.
Support and defects
Unless the quotation states otherwise, fixed projects include 30 days for correction of defects against the agreed specification. A new requirement is not a defect. Ongoing monitoring, maintenance or support requires a separate booking or retainer.
Specialist and regulated work
Safety-critical, regulated, structural, electrical-installation and product-conformity responsibilities require explicit scope and, where necessary, appropriately qualified partners or test facilities. UDS does not claim unsupported professional registrations or certifications.
